1st International Geotechnical Symposium on Helical Foundations

CALL for ABSTRACTS


The 1st International Geotechnical Symposium on Helical Foundations will be held late July or early August, 2013 at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Ma., USA. The Symposium is being organized by the International Society for Helical Foundations (ISHF) and will provide a format for exchange of current technology related to Helical Foundations including Screw-Piles and Helical Anchors among international researchers and practitioners. Abstracts of 300 words (pdf file) should be submitted via email to:

Abstracts are due on September 1, 2012.


Papers in the following subject areas will be considered:

  • Case Histories on Innovative Applications of Screw-Piles and Helical Anchors
  • Well Documented Full-Scale Load Test Case Histories
  • Laboratory and Model-Scale Testing
  • Theoretical Studies of Screw-Piles and Helical Anchors
  • Installation Torque Technologies
  • Retrofitting/Upgrading Existing Foundations with Screw-Piles or Helical Anchors
  • Construction of New Foundations for Buildings, Bridges, etc. Using Screw-Piles
  • Retaining Systems and Tiebacks Applications of Helical Anchors
  • Axial, Lateral and Combined Loading Behavior
  • Behavior of Single- and Multi-Helix Helical Anchors and Screw-Piles
  • Case Histories and Analysis of Large Diameter Round Shaft Screw-Piles



It is anticipated that all accepted papers will be presented in the 2 ½ day Symposium. It is also anticipated that a Prediction Event will be included in the Symposium and will be presented on the last session of the Symposium.
