One of the most important objectives in assembling our Technical Advisory Team was
diversity -
Let’s meet the HPW Technical Advisory Team.
Howard Perko, Ph.D., P.E.
Dr. Perko served as an advisor to HPW since the web site’s inception in 2006. He
has spent nearly all of his professional life working in and around the helical pile
industry. Currently Dr. Perko is director of engineering for Magnum Geo-
Mohammed Sakr, Ph.D., P.E.
Dr. Sakr has a very impressive background with design, installation and testing of large diameter helical piles. He has written extensively about large diameter helical pile projects in Canada while serving as Almita Manufacturing’s Senior Geotechnical Manager in Edmonton, Alberta. These projects included a variety of telecommunications towers, power transmission lines, substations, industrial facilities, petroleum processing facilities and residential camps. Currently Dr. Sakr is employed as Geotechnical Core Service Manager for WorleyParsons, in Edmonton, Alberta. HPW is honored to have Dr. Sakr join our team, and we think our readers will appreciate his breadth of knowledge with large diameter helical piles. Click here to read Dr. Sakr’s CV.
Moncef Souissi, Project Engineer, IAS Lab #342 Technical Manager
Mr. Souissi is arguably one the foremost authorities on helical pile laboratory and
field testing under specifications and guidelines defined in the ICC-
Christina De Hollanda Cavalcanti Tsuha, Ph.D.
Dr. Tsuha is professor at the Department of Geotechnical Engineering at the University
of Sao Paulo in Brazil. Her Ph.D. studies focused on the study of helical piles
using centrifuge tests. She also has an array of studies including cyclical behavior
of deep foundations, reliability analysis of pile and shallow foundations and physical
modeling of helical pile behavior in centrifuge and calibration chambers. Dr. Tsuha
has authored or co-
